The Ollwyn Footbridge

The Ollwyn Footbridge is one of the oldest surviving structures in Sevoll Cross. It was designed by the engineer Emeric Harvelbrin and completed in 1927. The structure stands 22 metres tall.

Emeric Harvelbrin drew up the plans after a public subscription raised funds for the project. Construction took three seasons, using stone quarried a few miles inland. When it opened in 1927, local newspapers described it as the most ambitious public work the town had attempted.

The Ollwyn Footbridge was restored in the late twentieth century and remains a familiar landmark for residents and visitors.
