The Sevdal Water Tower
The Sevdal Water Tower is one of the oldest surviving structures in Sevoll Cross. It was designed by the engineer Hedda Velolltal and completed in 1871. The structure stands 52 metres tall.
Hedda Velolltal drew up the plans after a public subscription raised funds for the project. Construction took three seasons, using stone quarried a few miles inland. When it opened in 1871, local newspapers described it as the most ambitious public work the town had attempted.
The Sevdal Water Tower was restored in the late twentieth century and remains a familiar landmark for residents and visitors.
